Is an examination and treatment concept dealing with finding and treating functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. During the examination, we provoke specific tissues, find those with abnormal structures, examine the extent of their damage and find the causes of the resulting ailments. The cause of ailments often lies in the disproportion between the tissue's load-carrying capacity and its load. Treatment should abolish this disproportion and restore the physiological „play” between joints, muscles and nerve structures. We use passive mobilization techniques, as well as active exercises performed by the patient for strengthening and stabilization or as an introduction to proper mobilization. The patient is additionally instructed on proper exercises (homework), which should support the work of the manual therapist.
Application of manual therapy
Manual therapy originated in orthopedics. Over time, however, medical fields such as surgery, geriatrics, traumatology, neurology and others have begun to use it. In principle, it can be used in all reversible functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Some of the indications for the use of manual therapy are limitations of mobility, pain, or a reduced ability to take up pressure relief.
