Dry needle therapy

Dry needle therapy is one of the methods used in physiotherapy. It involves inserting a thin acupuncture needle into a muscle, without administering any medication, to reduce fatigue and relax tight muscles.

The treatment uses disposable, sterile acupuncture needles with a diameter of 160 to 300 micrometers, which usually do not cause tissue damage. Dry needle therapy, performed according to procedures, is a safe procedure. It is performed with disposable gloves, and the patient's skin is disinfected before needle insertion, minimizing the risk of infection by pathogenic viruses.

Indications for dry needle therapy

Dry needle therapy is indicated for all types of musculoskeletal-related pain, both localized, such as lower back pain, shoulder pain, epicondylitis, and radiating pain, such as tension headaches. Needle therapy is also effective in the treatment of scars, improving their elasticity and increasing the mobility of the tissue.

The degree of soreness of the therapy depends on muscle tension, the area needled and the sharpness of the needle. There is no limit to the number of needles used during a single treatment, although this applies only to the chest, where only one side is worked on during a single treatment.
