Temporomandibular joint disc displacement with repositioning

Temporomandibular joint disc displacement with repositioning

Comparison of the efficacy of high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) and transcutaneous nerve stimulation with current (TENS) therapy in patients with symptomatic temporomandibular joint disc displacement with repositioning.

The study compared the effectiveness of high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy in patients with temporomandibular joint disc displacement with repositioning (DDWR).

It has been found that HILT and TENS therapy have resulted in a significant improvements in mouth opening, pain, disability and quality of life in patients with DDWR, both in the short and long term.

However, HILT therapy has proven to be more effective Than TENS therapy. HILT therapy has shown greater pain reduction and improved mouth opening in the short term after treatment. HILT therapy can be an alternative treatment method Temporomandibular joint disorders because it can stimulate deeper and larger tissues than TENS therapy.
